THE WIZARDS RETURN: ALEX VS ALEX

Disney Channel’s hit special event “The Wizards Return: Alex vs Alex,” starring superstar sensation, Selena Gomez reprising her role as Alex Russo, makes its highly-anticipated debut on DVD – June 25, 2013! Making the release a must-own, the DVD debut of “The Wizards Return: Alex vs Alex” also contains the final episode of the original series ‘Wizards of Waverly Place,’ the most-watched series finale in Disney Channel’s history. "Overflowing with big adventure, stunning special effects, epic stunts, exotic locales, and supernatural elements, "The Wizards Return: Alex vs Alex" is an exciting collectible for any Wizards fan and a fantastic adventure for the whole family."

The Russo family headed to Italy, to meet their long lost relatives... but when Alex (Selena Gomez) tries to prove she's more than a seemingly carefree young Wizard, she inadvertently conjures a spell that creates a Good Alex and an Evil Alex. When Evil Alex gets roped into a charming young wizard's foreboding plan to take over the world, Good Alex must find a way to save her family and humankind, which leads to a monumental battle between the two versions of herself - all atop the Tower of Pisa.

"The Wizards Return: Alex vs Alex" was written by Vince Cheung and Ben Montanio ("Wizards of Waverly Place") and Dan Berendsen (ABC Family's "Baby Daddy"). Selena Gomez, Cheung and Montanio and Dan Cross and David Hoge are the executive producers. It was directed by Victor Gonzalez ("Wizards of Waverly Place"). "Wizards of Waverly Place" was created by Todd J. Greenwald ("Hannah Montana") and is a production of It's a Laugh Productions for Disney Channel.

Review: Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated Season 1 Part 2

SYNOPSIS:

The adventures of a talking dog and his four human pals as they try to unravel the strange and haunted history of their hometown. The tone is comedic, but it will never lose the edge that our heroes are in some frightening situations. The stakes are real. Now you can see the second 14 episodes of Season 1 together in this set.

MY THOUGHTS:

Even as an adult, I am a huge Scooby-Doo! fan.  Watching Scooby, Shaggy and the rest of the gang is always entertaining.  I felt like a kid again, except I found it a lot easier to figure out who the culprit was.  I have to admit that Scooby is still one of my favorite characters and I'm so glad that he and the gang lived up to my expectations once again!  I mean, you can't get any better than a doggie detective.

My nephew goes ga-ga over Spongebob.  It reminds me of back when I was a kid and couldn't get enough of the Care Bears.   I'm not quite sure how this little sponge who lives under water captured Damien's heart but I'm so glad he did.  Seeing a child's face light up with excitement is priceless.  I gave him Spongebob's Frozen Face-Off for Christmas (among other things) and as soon as he unwrapped it, we had to pop it in the DVD player.  We had a great time laughing and taking part in adventures with Spongbob and Patrick.  It was also really cool to watch the bonus episodes, especially Fanboy and Chum Chum.

#HGG Review: Spongebob Squarepants: The Complete Seventh Season

The character-driven toon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurably optimistic and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends. Dwelling a few fathoms beneath the tropical isle of Bikini Atoll in the sub-surface city of Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob lives in a two-story pineapple. Instead of taking the logical approach to everyday challenges, SpongeBob approaches life in a wayward and unconventional way. Whether searching for the ultimate spatula to perfect his burger flipping technique at the Krusty Krab, or just hanging out with his best friend Patrick (an amiable starfish), SpongeBob's good intentions and overzealous approach to life usually create chaos in his underwater world. -- Written by Nickelodeon

I have sat through many episodes of SpongeBob with my nephew because he is a bit of a fanatic for this show.  At first I didn't really think too much about the show but the more I watched Damien enjoying SpongeBob and Patrick's friendship, the more I realized that it's actually a pretty decent show.  There have even been times when he's run to his bedroom to start playing and I keep watching to see what happens. Spongebob Squarepants: The Complete Seventh Season is filled with adventure, intrigue and unforgettable episodes.  Your kids can enjoy 572 minutes of SpongeBob episodes.  This would make a great gift for your little ones this holiday season.

Holiday Gift Guide Review: CatDog: Season One, Part One

A fan favorite, CatDog: Season One - Part One, is a tale of opposites attached starring CatDog, the most unlikely brother duo ever seen. The conjoined brothers love each other yet they are so different, they can’t help but annoy themselves silly with their contrarian activities. Prim and proper, Cat is the very definition of culture, while Dog is the ultimate tail-wagging, sofa-jumping, car-chasing roughneck. But despite their very different personalities, CatDog are the best of friends, sticking to one another — literally — through thick and thin, even when it comes to facing off against their devious neighbor Winslow and the rough ’n’ tough gang of Greaser Dogs!

I remember when I was a kid and would watch a cartoon and be envious of the friendship between two characters.  If I had seen CatDog as a kid, I know I would have been taken with the main characters relationship.  My nephew loves this show and I was thrilled to go to his house with CatDog: Season One, Part One.  We watched a few episodes together and laughed like crazy.  It's a great show with a good message.  CatDog on DVD would make a great gift this holiday season!

I had seen bits and pieces of the show Victorious but I had never actually seen an entire episode.  When I received Victorious: Season One, Volume One in the mail, I was excited to find out more about the show.  I ended up taking the DVD's to over to a friends house because I knew her kids were huge fans.  When we finished the pilot episode, I was really shocked at how much I enjoyed this show.  It held my attention as much as the kids attention.  I definitely recommend this show!

Review - Dinosaur Train: Hatchers

Easter is right around the corner and Dinosaur Train has come up with the perfect Easter product!  I got so excited when I found out about Hatchers because I would have went nuts for them as a kid.  You start out with an egg and then you put it in a glass of water.that is room temperature.  After a day or two, a Dinosaur Train character will hatch and grow.  When it stops growing, you can take him out of the glass and throw the shell pieces away.  The hatcher will go back to it's original size when it is not in water, but if your child would like to see it big again, all they have to do is put it back in some water.  Pretty cool, huh?  This is the perfect addition for your child's Easter basket.

About Dinosaur Train:

In DINOSAUR TRAIN, young viewers join Buddy and his adoptive family of Pteranodons on whimsical adventures through prehistoric jungles, swamps, volcanoes and oceans as they unearth basic concepts in natural science, natural history and paleontology. The Dinosaur Train is a colorful locomotive, customized to accommodate all kinds of dinosaurs, and it has the ability to visit the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous worlds, while the Train’s Conductor, a knowledgeable Troodon, provides passengers with fascinating facts along the way.

DINOSAUR TRAIN is a Parents’ Choice Recommended TV series, and the DINOSAUR TRAIN website received a Parents’ Choice Silver Award and was the recipient of a prestigious 2010 Prix Jeunesse Award.

DINOSAUR TRAIN, created by Craig Bartlett (
Hey Arnold!), embraces and celebrates the fascination that preschoolers have with both dinosaurs and trains while encouraging basic scientific thinking and skills. Each episode includes animated segments with live-action sequences featuring a paleontologist who brings to life the show's natural science and natural history curriculum for preschoolers, giving specific facts about dinosaurs and comparing their features to animals of today.

In addition to the television series, there is also a DINOSAUR TRAIN interactive website at PBSKIDS.org/dinosaurtrain. Buddy, Tiny and Mr. Conductor guide children as they discover natural history and the science of paleontology through fun games and activities.  For information on the DINOSAUR TRAIN geocache program—a fast growing adventure game that inspires families to get out and discover treasures together go to www.geocaching.com/dinosaurtrain.

Review: Dinosaur Train Pteranodon Family World Tour Adventures

Get on board the Dinosaur Train with Buddy, a Tyrannosaurus R  ex, and his adoptive family of Pteranodons as they embark on a roaring, exploring world tour adventure to discover a variety of dinosaurs inhabiting the globe as they journey to Asia, Europe and Africa.  From the world-renowned Jim Henson Company, PBS KIDS and Paramount Home Entertainment, the DINOSAUR TRAIN: PTERANODON FAMILY WORLD TOUR ADVENTURE DVD includes eight exciting edu-tainment adventures, interactive games, coloring pages, a dinosaur reference guide and parent information. Boasting incredible CGI animation and an average monthly viewership of 11.9 million, the “Dinosaur Train” is a Parents’ Choice recommended PBS KIDS TV series and is one of the top ten shows for kids 2 to 5. SRP $14.99

My nephew absolutely adores DINOSAUR TRAIN.  As soon as I put the DVD in, he was instantly swept away in the show.  My favorite part of watching this with him was when he handed me the remote and said "pause it" and took off to the bathroom.  When he came back in the living room, I was getting ready to press play and he said "NO!" and went into the kitchen and grabbed some chips.  It was so cute!  He didn't want to miss a single second.  DINOSAUR TRAIN is a great show with a positive message and it keeps children happy while teaching them.

Ruby and Louise want to earn their hospitality badge by hosting a Bunny Scout Meeting.  Meanwhile, Max and Morris are busy exploring the domino effect with a variety of toys culminating in a terrific welcome for Bunny Scouts.

Grandma’s Attic
Max & Ruby explore in Grandma’s attic.  While Ruby is delighted to try on old clothes, Max finds an old chest that Grandma says nobody ever goes into.  When he finds the key, they both get a surprise.

Bunny Cakes / Bunny Party / Bunny Money

Bunny Cakes
Ruby wants to surprise Grandma with an angel cake with raspberry fluff icing for her birthday.  However, Max wants to make Grandma an earthworm cake with red-hot marshmallow squirters.  After a few mishaps in the kitchen and a few trips to the grocery store, Grandma gets both!
Bunny Party
Ruby is preparing a surprise birthday party for Grandma and she invited all her dollies as guests.  Meanwhile, Max thinks that some of his toy friends should also be at the party.  It’s not long before Ruby discovers that there are too many guests and not enough chairs.

Bunny Money
Ruby has saved just enough money to buy Grandma a music box with skating ballerinas on top for her birthday.  She soon finds however that shopping with Max costs more than she planned.

Ruby’s Safari / Max’s Mud Bath / Max’s Lost Lizard

Ruby’s Safari
Ruby and Louise have to fill out the last page of their Bunny Scout Scrapbook.  They decide to have a safari in the backyard to get a picture of a special creature.  However, Max keeps leading them astray with his animal toys.  In the end, his red rubber elephant attracts a hummingbird and the girls get their photo.

Max’s Mud Bath
Ruby and Louise set up there beauty shop again and want to give Max an all-natural treatment with crushed up fruits and veggies.  However, Max thinks the treatment looks quite tasty and would rather play in the mud.

Max’s Lost Lizard
Ruby and Louise are making a terrarium for the Bunny Scout chameleon, and Max is very interested in the “lizard!” When the chameleon escapes, Max is the only one who sees through its camouflage.  Thankfully, Max manages to help get it safely back in the girls’ finished terrarium.

Ruby’s Rainbow / Home Tweet Home / Max’s Mudpie

Ruby's Rainbow
Ruby wants to paint a perfect rainbow for Grandma but she can’t remember the colors or the order they go in.  When Max says “Backyard,” Ruby says he can’t go outside because it’s raining.  However when she finally follows him outside, she sees there’s a rainbow in the backyard.
Home Tweet Home
Ruby and Louise build a birdhouse. Max says “Hungry” so Ruby gets him a peanut butter sandwich, berries and sunflower seeds.  When the birds don’t come near the birdhouse, Max uses the treats to attract the birds.

Max's Mudpie
Max keeps trying to make a mudpie but Ruby wants him to stay clean because Grandma is coming over and she’s got something very special.  In the end, Max gets himself and Ruby mucky.  It turns out that Grandma’s surprise is a double chocolate fudge treat she calls “Mudpie!”
It's amazing how a show can capture a toddler's attention and hold it.  My nephew likes to watch TV but he is also a very active child, so there are times when he sits down to watch something and after a couple of minutes he's running around playing, which is great.  But every now and again, he will become engrossed in a story and it's amazing to watch his expressions.  That's how it was when I put on an episode of Max & Ruby: Rainy Day Play.  His little face lit up whenever there was a scene with Grandma and I know that's because he is addicted to his Mamaw.  This is a great show that's entertaining for the whole family.

Join Diego, his sister Alicia, and their friends all over the world as they race to the rescue of animals in trouble! Help them reach Antarctica to help some penguins! Save a Bengal Tiger in India and thirsty camels in Egypt! Dive under the sea to save a Humpback Whale, and swing through the Latin American rainforest to help a deer, a hawk, and even those silly Bobo Brothers (and their spider monkeys sisters too)! ¡Al rescate!

There are six fun-filled, adventurous episodes in Diego Saves the World.  My nephew is a huge Diego fan and it makes me really happy when he enjoys a show that is educational.  Friendship is one of the most important lessons in life and that is one of thing that I love about Diego, he cares about his friends.  He also teaches children how to say words in Spanish which I find really cool because it's easier to learn another language as a child.  He really enjoyed this DVD which put a huge smile on my face.

Created by Zinkia Entertainment, and broadcast in over 100 countries across the globe, the Pocoyo TV series airs in the U.S on Nick Jr. (seven days per week at 4.25 pm); PBS stations across 80% of the U.S.; Univision’s Planeta U (Saturday mornings at 8.30 am); and Discovery Familia.  Narrated by British actor Stephen Fry (Dr. Gordon Wyatt on Bones), the series follows the adventures of three-year-old Pocoyo (“little me” in Spanish), an inquisitive and fun-loving boy and his animal friends, Elly (the elephant), Pato (the duck) and Loula (the dog).  The show, packed with music, dance, and humor, engages the audience, encouraging children to learn through laughter.  Pocoyo, co-produced by ITV STUDIOS Global Entertainment and Zinkia, has attracted a host of accolades including a prestigious BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) for Best Animated Preschool Series, three Pucinella Prizes at the Italian Cartoons on the Bay Festival and Best TV Series at the Annecy Cartoon Festival.

Pocoyo is a multi-platform property enjoying strong online presence, with the virtual world www.pocoyoworld.com attracting over 11 million visitors, where children and carers can share a host of fun and educational activities with their favorite characters. There are over 350 million Pocoyo hits on YouTube, 25 million downloads from the official Pocoyo website, and over 10 million people using the ‘Pocoyize’ customizing application.
